The leaves have all yellowed. And with the stirring of the wind, one by one they fly and fall and drift.
There is no rush to the waters of the river in this place. But bending and curving through the valley it goes.
It is speculated that a river will meander to dissipate energy. And though they have tried to straighten rivers to maximize bottomland farming, the rivers always go back to their meandering ways.
Slowly on its journey to the sea the Powder River courses its way through the broad valley one fall day in northern Wyoming.
