No One Knows – No One Remembers

And in this place a home once stood.

Now not even the sign of a foundation can be found. But the old stone fireplace stands, still charred around the hearth from long ago.

Time and care was taken to find and put just the right stone in just the right place. Blocks of stone were made of the sandstone in the nearby hills. And how many nights and days did the fires warm and cook for those gathered round it?

And if you ask, no one knows. And no one remembers.

Music: “Red Rocking Chair,” Traditional. Played on a Martin Orchestra model cutaway acoustic guitar. Garageband.
